Authorized Economic Operator status is in fact one of the pillars of SAFE (Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade) Program of the World Customs Organization that has been implemented by a number of its Members, including Turkey. Under the Turkish Customs legislation, AEO is an international status granting certain facilitations and priorities in customs procedures to reliable companies that can meet certain conditions. Such conditions are in general compliance with liabilities to customs, having adequate and traceable recording and documentation systems, financial solvency, having certain safety and security standards, being able to perform auto-control and having been established in Turkey. Companies having the AEO status can benefit from many facilitations and authorizations directly once they are granted the status and from certain additional facilitations and authorizations upon request if they can meet certain further requirements or conditions. However, the EU Union Customs Code that has been implemented as from 1 May 2016 stipulated that most of the simplifications and privileges given previously would now be given only to Authorized Economic Operators and such arrangements have already been carried on into the draft new Turkish Customs Code. In this framework, for multinational corporate companies, working with professional consultants expertized in customs and trade legislation and procedures would result in concluding the application procedure for the AEO status in the shortest time possible and after being granted the status, more significantly, sustainability of their status by having external auditing and reporting services, as well as faster adapting the new facilitations or authorizationsto be granted in the future.Consultancy in Application for and Surveillance of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Status
